Brainwave Entrainment is a series of applications for the iPod/iPhone available for purchase from iTunes. How does it work?

This software produces special rhythmic sounds (binaural beats) in order to achieve mental changes which in turn can result in lasting, real world accomplishments of improving one’s life and mental abilities. Change your mind; change your life.

Brainwave entrainment is a science which deals with the brain’s electrical response to rhythmic sensory stimulation, such as pulses of sound. When the brain is given a stimulus, through hearing or other senses, it emits an electrical charge in response. This can be measured by scientists using sensitive electrodes attached to the scalp. When the brain encounters a rhythmic stimulus, such as a drum beat, the rhythm is reproduced in the brain in the form of these electrical impulses.

When the frequency of this rhythmic stimulus resembles the frequency of brainwaves, the brain has been shown to respond by synchronizing its own electric cycles to the same rhythm. This is called “frequency following response”. In other words, listening to a particular rhythmic sound at a frequency similar to brainwaves can cause the brain to adapt to these brainwave patterns and actually change the way you think.

Various sound frequencies corresponding to specific Hertz values are used to induce desired effects. These frequencies do not introduce specific thoughts or any type of mind control. They simply work to promote a desired mental state or level of cognitive functioning. For example, higher frequencies facilitate higher levels of thinking and alertness, while lower frequencies work to induce calmness or sleep.
