FlashCards 1.9.9 Released
FlashCards 1.9.9 has just been released to the iTunes Store. This update fixes some issues with iOS4 as well as takes advantage of some new features.
The gestures to go back and forward while running through cards have been improved and should be more responsive.
The update also enables fast application switching, meaning that if you are running iOS4, FlashCards will remember where you left off when you come back into the application.
This also fixes a bug with taking photos on an iOS4 enabled device.
The 2.0 rewrite is still underway and on target to be released later this summer. It’s a very expansive update and will introduce most requested features.
As always, let me know if there’s anything you want to see in the application, and I’ll do my best to get it in as soon as possible!

GRRRRRRR!!! I did the update and now my flashcards don’t work!! I try to run them and it says “Uh Oh. Something bad happened. Things should be OK now, but it’s still probably a good idea to leave the application and reopen to prevent data loss.” I close out of the app and still can’t get my flashcards to run! THen when I try to move backwards in the app it brings up some page with a weird looking gibberish script (almost Latin looking words)
Is there a solution? I’m using these to study vocab words for the GRE and this app has been my best friend for weeks now, (I was really LOVING it) until this update yesterday!! Help!! I really don’t want to have to reconstruct the 200 cards I’ve created!!

My wife and I have the iPhone 4 with FlashCards 1.9.9 installed on both phones. I spent quite a bit of time fine tuning a set of cards (351) with pictures and topics. Is there a way I can copy this cardset from one from to the other? Right now I have to manually recreate the same cardset on the other phone as simply copying the flashcards.sqlite3 file to the other phone doesn’t seem to recognize the cardsets.
Other than that, it’s a fantastic app. We love it!
I read the backup/restore functionality for the iPhone is coming but do you have a ballpark figure for a release date? Fall 2010? Spring 2011?

I just updated the app, but now it keeps crashing on me. When I try to run the cards I get the long “uh oh” message telling me to close out the app. I’ve tried every way to run the cards, but it doesn’t work, I either get the “uh oh” message or the app just closes.
Any recommendations? I’m not sure if it matters, but I have the first generation phone.

This is an issue with devices not updated to iOS 3.2 or greater (non iOS4 or iPad in other words).
I submitted an update today, so hopefully it should be out soon.

Copying all of the files from iTunes from one device to the other should work. Make sure the application isn’t running when you copy the files.
Let me know if that still isn’t working for you.

You shouldn’t have to reconstruct the cards.
Fortunately all your data is fine, unfortunately the most recent update broke pre iOS4 or iPad devices. I’ve submitted a fix already and hopefully it should be out soon.
Thanks,
Jason
